L’ article INJURY PATTERNS RELATED TO USE OF LESS-LETHAL WEAPONS DURING A PERIOD OF CIVIL UNREST documenta un estudi efectuat en 27 pacients hospitalitzats després dels aldarulls entre policia i manifestants a Cincinnati (USA) del 10 d’ abril de 2001 al 18 d’ abril de 2001. Tots els pacients van ser ferits per projectils de goma. En el 28 % dels casos les contusions eren rellevants a nivell general, en el 12% dels casos es patien contusions pulmonars, laceracions del fetge, trencament del tendó d’Aquiles, dos dels casos han derivat en pneumonia i un en síndrome post-contussiu.
